About Me

Thanks for visiting WaterGirl.co. My name is Katie. I live in beautiful Scottsdale, Arizona with my husband and two cats. I've loved the water for as long as I can remember.

Swimming is good for me in every single way.

As a kid, I swam on summer Parks & Rec teams. I wasn't very good, but I wasn't very bad either. That made swimming my best sport. By a wide margin.

Believe it or not, I'm a much better swimmer today than I was as a kid. As an adult, I've learned something I never knew as a kid: how to improve my technique. What a revelation! I used to think that swimming talent was inborn. I may have an inborn love of the water, but my "natural ability" left off just shy of mediocrity.

I swim with a Masters team, and I compete in Open Water events. In 2012, I completed Swim the Suck, a 10-mile swim on the Tennessee River. Some day, I hope to complete the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim. Like every swimmer, I'm faster than some people, slower than (many) others. It's all about the journey.

These days, my dreams are mostly about swimming. Regardless of what your dreams are, I'm rooting for you if you're chasing them.
